Mr. Skelly has over a decade of middle market investment banking and corporate development experience with privately-held as well as publicly-traded, Fortune 500 enterprises focused on the distribution sector. Jon has worked with or for many of the distribution industry’s leading participants, such as W.W. Grainger, HD Supply and Hughes Supply. He has specialized expertise in the sale and acquisition of middle market distribution businesses and buy-side M&A financial advisory services for corporate acquirers and private equity firms.
Prior to joining Vetus, Jon was an investment banker focused primarily on all sectors of distribution. Representative distribution transactions that Jon led include representing W.W. Grainger in its acquisition of Imperial Supplies from American Capital and representing Thomas Pipe & Supply Co. in its sale to Gen Cap America. During his corporate distribution career, Jon served as Director of Strategic Business Development for the HD Supply subsidiary of The Home Depot with responsibilities for completing strategic acquisitions in the maintenance and construction sectors of the distribution industry. Prior to HD Supply, Jon served as Director of Mergers & Acquisitions/Strategic Business Development for Hughes Supply, Inc. with responsibilities for strategic acquisitions and divestitures across all businesses within Hughes Supply’s $6 billion distribution portfolio. Jon has also served as a member of the Distribution investment banking team at Robert W. Baird & Co. Over his career Jon has executed transactions in the distribution sector with over $5.0 billion of total enterprise value.
Jon is a frequent speaker at distribution industry events and contributor to leading industry trade publications. He has had articles published in Modern Distribution Management, Industrial Distribution, TED Magazine and Supply House Times, among others.
